Diabetes May Affect More Then Expected

More than half a million adults living in NYC have diabetes. Hundreds of thousands more may have diabetes without knowing it. That's according to a new report by the cities health department. As Ntshepeng Motema Reports health experts say, obesity remains a major cause of diabetes.

 

Reporter Ntshepeng Motema (en-SEP-eng mo-TAY-mah) covers the race and ethnicity beat for Uptown radio. Ntshepeng is a multi-media journalist from South Africa. After graduating from the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa, she worked as a weekly current affairs show producer for eNews Channel Africa, a 24-hour news station broadcasting throughout Africa and into the UK. She has also done news reports in various parts of Africa including Rwanda, South Sudan, and Kenya.
